Laundry Detergent Powder

Features:
    Cuisine:

You can easily make your own washing soda from baking soda it's just a difference of a few water molecules. spread some baking soda in a baking dish and place it in a 400 degree oven, check periodically. It has become washing soda when it is soft and has a different sheen to it. You can tell both visually and by touching it. I like to stir when I check it to make sure that there aren't any pockets not getting dried, I also don't make a thick layer. It could take up to an hour for this process depending on how much you are converting, but I have never needed that long. Cool and store in an air tight container, Tupperware or mason jars work great. After some research about borax I have decided to use baking soda instead as borax is toxic to animals and I don't like to have anything around that my young children can't accidentally get into; since I don't know about kids and borax I will error on the side of caution.
