Homemade Italian Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Features:
    Cuisine:

This was a huge hit, even with my raw-vegan friend! We've had hot days and today hit 108?, so I opted to adjust this recipe for the crock pot. used ground turkey instead of beef. I cooked the turkey, bacon and the veggies per instructions, threw everything else in the crock pot, and then spent the rest of the day in the pool. Everyone really enjoyed this recipe. The bacon sets it apart from other spaghetti sauces, and the only thing I'd change is to add about a teaspoon of sugar next time. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Papa D. Made and enjoyed for the 2012 Cookathon in memory of Papa D.

I mentioned simmering for 1 hour but longer yields more flavor, I let sauce simmer for about 5 hours, stirring occasionally., This was a huge hit, even with my raw-vegan friend!
