Vogels (Birds) – Roundsteak rolls,This is a traditional old-fashioned Dutch recipe. I had this often as a child. I like the crockpot version, but the liquid doesn’t cook down as much. To do that I just boil the liquid while I keep the meat warm and prepare a salad or other veggies to go along with it.,We always loved when mom made round steak and gravy so had to give this a try. Bought a large thin cut sliced round steak and had the butcher slice it into 4 nice pieces. Used beef broth instead of water and bouillon cube. Simmered on the stove like my mom did but would definitely give them a try in the crockpot. The round steak was very tender and loved the flavors of the onion and bacon. Made a slurry of flour and water to make gravy and topped the round steak with it. Brought back very nice family meal memories and tasted fantastic. Made and reviewed for Susie’s World Tour 2019 – Benelux.
