My Favorite King Ranch Chicken, I adopted this recipe from Recipezaar in September 2006 It was originally submitted by Moxie, but she is no longer a member of Recipezaar I’ve been making Moxie’s recipe for several years now and I’m proud to give it a home The only change I make is that use two cans of cream of chicken soup and omit the can of cream of mushroom soup, because my kids dislike mushrooms This casserole is a church potluck staple here in Texas and there are as many versions of this dish as there are armadillos in Texas However, this is the best King Ranch Chicken recipe that I’ve found! This casserole also freezes well , This recipe intrigued me with the cheez whiz and doritos After making it, I feel like it fits better for a potluck rather than a meal for dinner like we had it I served some broccoli on the side, but the dish was a little too heavy, or more like junk food for dinner per say My husband loved it though! I did use velveeta and colby cheese in place of the cheez whiz I don’t like the artificial taste that cheez whiz has I also added in a little garlic powder and parsley The main thing I changed was layering it Instead of layering, I mixed everything together and put the doritos on top to stay crunchy I added them and the extra cheese over top the last 15 minutes of baking Overall it was good, and I think it would go well for a potluck Thank you for the recipe!, why would you use processed canned food when your cooking as a ingredient im sorry but this is student cooking
