Grilled Safari Steak With Mango Chutney and Mushrooms, Thanks to Peacefulnightdove for renaming this recipe The real name Monkey Gland Steak – a Sweet Marinade Sauce But trust me No monkey here! African recipe posted for tour 2005 used a mango chutney with Raisins and Red Chilies Bought a rump roast that I sliced across the grain into steaks , A really delicious recipe with a sweet, tangy, piquant sauce used fresh, coarsely chopped, steamed white mushrooms instead of canned; I think that was the only substitution I made used a Major Grey’s mango chutney, and it seemed to go very well in the sauce I served this with some haricots vert, garlicky sauteed zucchini, and some garlic mashed potatoes, all of which went well with the recipe I will very likely make this again, though I will probably have to tweak it a bit–my son dislikes mushrooms, and it was maybe just a bit too tangy for the kids’ tastes But DH & I both enjoyed it quite a bit just as it is!
