French Country Casserole

This was AWESOME!! My husband was talking with one of our grown sons on the phone later that evening and told him he should be sure to get the recipe from me. He has NEVER done that before! I made a few adjustments: - substituted Garbanzo beans for the Great Northern because that's what I had around. - used 3 medium onions cut in half and then in half rings - used 3/4 cup red wine - 1 Tablespoon dark brown sugar that's what I had - 6 cloves of garlic minced Cooked it in a 4 quart enameled Dutch oven and served it with a French baguette. For the two of us, it made enough for 2 meals. We froze the rest.

French Country Casserole, I am sure that the French used actual dried beans, soaked and cooked. However, this one is very quick to make if your evening is hectic., This was AWESOME!!
