Fried Bread Crumbs

Thanx for posting this. I'm glad I found it. I wondered how this was made. My grandmother wasn't Sicilian, but her parents were southern Italian immigrants & she had many Sicilian friends. She passed away in 1968. She made bread with a 5lb. sack flour every Monday & I believe she'd grate her own bread for this. (We didn't have seasoned Italian breadcrumbs available to purchase at the store when I was a child.) I loved it. I remember she'd usually serve a wide flat pasta for this. I'll need to look that up too.

Fried Bread Crumbs,This is a MUST on top of my Sunday Sauce! Try this instead of plain old parmesan cheese! It’s my great, great grandmother’s recipe from Sicily!,Thanx for posting this. I’m glad I found it. I wondered how this was made. My grandmother wasn’t Sicilian, but her parents were southern Italian immigrants & she had many Sicilian friends. She passed away in 1968. She made bread with a 5lb. sack flour every Monday & I believe she’d grate her own bread for this. (We didn’t have seasoned Italian breadcrumbs available to purchase at the store when I was a child.) I loved it. I remember she’d usually serve a wide flat pasta for this. I’ll need to look that up too.,This is very easy and a nice change from plain breadcrumbs. I halved the recipe easily and used it to top baked mac n’ cheese, which worked great because not everyone here likes bread crumbs baked on the mac n’ cheese, so we could sprinkle it on at the table. Will give it a try on spaghetti soon. I was worried about the amount of garlic but it worked out just fine. Made for Fall 2011 paC game.
