Swirled Cherry Cake,This is a sweet and delicious cake. The recipe was on the side of a cake mix box several years ago. I can’t remember what it was called back then. Edited on July 6, 2004: From my own recent and personal experience, try to avoid using store/off brand canned pie filling. They tend to have more of the glaze rather than cherries. The cake won’t have as many cherries in it as it would with Comstock or other name brand Pie Filling.,This recipe was an effing disaster! Followed the instructions. Cake was way too wet. Cooked over and then stuck in the bundt pan. I was making it for a friend’s birthday and super disappointed in the road kill aftermath….,Had to play with recipe because I always want to make it my own. After spraying and flouring bundt pan, threw a handful of chopped almonds on bottom and another handful in batter. Substituted unsweetened black cherry juice for water because I had it in fridge for smoothies, used butter instead of oil with Duncan Hines Butter cake mix and a tsp of almond extract. When adding cherries, took another reviewer’s advice and added in 2 layers with batter them swirled in circular motion. Baked 48 minutes to compensate for almonds and cherry juice. Planned on glazing but didn’t have confectioners sugar. Son suggested drizzling chocolate syrup when serving. OMG, awesome cake; not God awful sweet and really moist.
