Hot Maple-Apple Topping

Features:
    Cuisine:

This was a terrific and simple recipe. Both DH and 6-year-old loved it on waffles with whipped cream. I made a double batch for the 3 of us and it was all gone! I increased the butter a little bit - might not have been necessary, though. I also added 1 Tbs flour to the melted butter and 1/2 tsp cinnamon (to double batch) and a little salt at the end to bring out the flavor. I did cook it for quite a bit longer than the recipe said - probably 20 minutes before adding the syrup and 10-15 more after. This one's a keeper!

Hot Maple-Apple Topping, I know, I know I already have a Maple/Apple recipe here but this is slightly different and equally as good over pancakes, or frozen yogurt or icecream Try sprinkling on some toasted pecans or walnuts and adding some whipped cream to that sundae!!! Great way to use those soon to be here fall apples! I substituted cinnamon for the nutmeg, because my husband and I aren’t fans of nutmeg The second time I made it, I chopped the apples up fine Also, DH likes his topping a little thicker, so I added some flour to the butter It ended up crusting onto the apples, but then as soon as I added the syrup, everything worked out and I had a lovely thick topping
