    Mom’s Sugar Cookies, Makes a big, tender cookie for those who don’t like crispy sugar cookies Great for any holiday My mom would kill me if she knew I was posting this recipe-it’s a family secret so don’t tell!, I had the same result with almost all sugar cookies I make; to big to bland, I made this as specified with the exception of reducing the water to a half cup The dough was still incredibly wet and hard to work with even after being chilled overnight The cookies spread quite a bit too I don’t think I would make these again

    In a Large Mixing Bowl, Cream Sugar, Shortening and Eggs.

    Add 1 Cup Flour, Soda, Salt, and Baking Powder.

    Add to Creamed Mixture Alternately With Remaining 4 Cups Flour.

    Roll Onto Lightly Floured Surface 1/4 Inch Thick.

    Bake on Ungreased Cookies Sheets at 400f For 8-10 Minutes or Until Edges Just Begin to Turn Light Golden Brown.
