Directions
Amish Cabbage Patch Stew,This simple and satisifiing main dish came from My Amish friend and it is one of my husband’s favorite meals,This is a good start. My suggestions: Use 15 oz can of southwestern or ranch beans, not kidney beans. Sub 1 8 oz can of tomato sauce and 1 cup of stock for 2 cups water. Add 3 cloves of minced garlic and some sliced mushrooms to pot when you saute the onions and celery. Add 1/2 teaspoon of cumin. Start with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and check near end of cooking for taste. Cook with cover off after 15 minutes for thicker stew. use this recipe with my changes with 1 lb of ground turkey.,Good, but way too much sugar and salt called for. I put in half of what it called for, but that is far too much. Suggest no sugar or possibly 1/2 tbsp. or less. 1 tbsp. or less salt. Worchestershire sauce has salt in it too.
