Directions
Applesauce Drop Doughnuts,Quick & easy to make. You can have the batter whipped up in the amount of time it takes for the oil to heat. (use a Fry Daddy.) We actually like them better after they sit for 5-6 hours rather than warm like most doughnuts I make.,used 1 egg, unsweetened homemade applesauce, homemade baking powder, and milk (not buttermilk). I also decided to make baked muffins instead of deep-fried doughnuts. Either the tang of the applesauce came through strongly, or there was an interaction with the baking powder (can happen with homemade). Also, either I mixed the batter too much (and I know not to do that for muffins), or it’s a bit dense.I made enough changes, what with dropping the eggs and switching the cooking method, that I don’t want to rate this recipe. The taste is pretty good (even dense, with a cinnamon streusel topping), but I don’t recommend using this as a muffin recipe!,Excellent and Easy!! I added a little orange zest. Makes a lot.
