Directions
Banana Dahl,This recipe came from Simon Rimmer or Greens vegetarian restaurant in Manchester. This is the original recipe but as I am trying to watch my weight use 4 sprays of cooking oil rather than 2 tablespoons and leave out the fried plantain which brings it to about 230 calories per serving and 1.2g fat. Its wonderfully warm and comforting and just needs to be served with some chapattis or naan bread.,I added more cinnamon and a bit of honey. It was very interesting, a good warm comfort food, but I didn’t really like the combination of savory from the lentils and sweet from the bananas. I’d just as soon have made oatmeal or a spicy broccoli dal. Mom thought it was “something [she] could eat”, but that’s about the best anyone had to say about it.,Thank you for posting this recipe. I had never seen a dahl recipe with bananas in it, so this caught my attention. It was just as you described, wonderfully warm and comforting.
