Best Apple Cake, This is my DH favorite cake, I have tried many apple cakes over the years and this is a winner!! So moist and dense, with a caramel taste, cannot say enough, just try it and see , Can you skip the whipped Cream?, I made this for Thanksgiving It was the first time I had ever eaten an Apple Cake It was good, with some adjustments I swapped out 1 5 cups of Brown Sugar for the 2 cups Sugar in the recipe (seemed to make more sense to go with Brown sugar/cinnamon profile) used 1/2 cup Coconut Oil and 1/2 cup Apple/Apricot unsweetened sauce, and Apple Cider instead of Apple Juice I added 2 tsp Cinnamon and 1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg I cooked it in a 10 cast iron deep skillet It was good Moist, sweet (without being over the top) and not at all oily I didn’t make the glaze and it didn’t seem to miss it Next time I’ll try the glaze Overall it had great flavor A nice dense cake, and feels like autumn
