Branston Pickle and Cheese Sandwich,Soo good, I always got this at school, I will have to thank our chefs for this one. This only tastes good cold, so I wouldn’t recommend trying to heat it up,I learned of cheese and pickle sandwiches whilst watching an episode of Doc Martin. It’s an interesting sandwich, but not a great one, as most Brit food is. I ordered Branston Pickle and Collier’s Powerful Welsh Cheddar online and have eaten a few cold sandwiches as prescribed on various sites. Today, I made a panino with Country White bread and the other requisite ingredients, grilled on my little George Forman appliance, having coated both top and bottom with olive oil (the bread browns more quickly this way). I was much more pleased with this sandwich heated, and I highly recommend it in this manner! By the by, I think Dubliner White Cheddar is very similar to Collier’s Powerful Welsh, and it’s readily available at Costco.,I’m actually eating one of these as we speak. I’m watching my calorie intake, so I serve mine on reduced calorie multi-grain bread with a slice of extra sharp cheddar and some slices of raw onion. Delish-ous! A bit hard to find in the States, but most of the higher end grocery stores have them in their International Foods section. Smaller chunks are definitely easier to spread.
