Chocolate Chip Cookies – Betty Crocker’s 1969 Recipe,My mom has used this recipe for 40 years now and it is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever had. The cookie is crisp around the edges and yet chewy at the same time. I will occasionally omit the nuts due to food allergies for those I’m feeding. I get alot of people questioning how all my cookies are the same size, I’m old school and will still use a teaspoon or tablespoon and my fingers to slide the cookie dough off the spoon. No need for fancy ice cream scoops if you don’t want to. 🙂 This will surely become a favorite of yours once you give it a try….,Like others here I purchased my Betty Crocker cookbook in the 70s. It was an excellent resource that taught me how to cook. It still contains the best meat loaf recipe in town, a rock star peanut butter cookie recipe, and this iconic chocolate chip cookie recipe. I made this recipe again after trying others that didn’t come close. It stands the test of time and is excellent. I believe the magic ingredient is the shortening. BTW my book is now missing pages and cover, and is broken into 3. Wish I could find another!!,I bought a Betty Crocker cookbook in the mid 70s before I got married. Still have it, although the front cover is gone! This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe, better than the one on the toll house package. Sometimes use a cup of butter and just 1/3 cup Crisco shortening because its easier to just use the 2 full butter sticks, but definitely dont omit the shortening. It makes a difference. My husband is a coconut lover, so I sometimes use shredded coconut instead of nuts.
