    Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies,These cookies are so good! I found the recipe in the Texas Country Reporter Cookbook!,When do I add the oatmeal?,This recipe was awesome. Probably one of the best cookies I have ever made. I substituted Quaker oats for quick oats and gave it a chewy quality. For a Christmas cookie I add 1 cup of craisins (dried cranberries) and substituted 12 ounce package of Nestle Triple Chips (dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate chips) for the mild chocolate chips. All my friends loved this variation of the cookie.

    Preheat Oven to 375f.

    Sift Together Flour, Soda and Salt.

    in a Separate Bowl, Cream Together Shortening and Sugars; Add Eggs, One at a Time, Beating Well After Each Addition.

    Stir in Hot Water, Vanilla and Flour Mixture.

    Drop from a Teaspoon Onto Parchment-Lined Baking Sheet.
