Cooking Light Sloppy Joes, These are so good! Cooking Light suggests serving this with carrots and vegetables chips., Ok, so I haven’t had a sloppy Joe since I was 10, and my tastes have changed enormously since then. I picked this recipe because of the lack of sweet ingredients. I also altered it to be vegetarian-ish by using gardein ground round. I did use Worcestershire though. I also used red pepper instead of green. I added extra seasoning – garlic powder, more oregano, and some cayenne. I had to add quite a bit more passata, but I think that’s due to the veggie “meat.” I loved this with my adaptations., Decided to try this recipe since it didn’t call for ketchup and all kinds of sugar and I’m so glad I did. It’s good but thankfully not sweet like so many sloppy joe recipes. Since I was also testing this recipe to see if my grandkids would like it, I didn’t add the green pepper but will if I’m only making it for myself. I cooked it uncovered and it was just right after 15 minutes, not too sloppy at all.
