Crabmeat Canapes

I've made this dip 4 times now for dinner parties. Absolute party pleaser! I've even made it without almonds when I didn't have the time to get some and it's still great. A couple of times used a flavoured cream cheese (e.g. garlic and herbs). But to be honest it doesn't need it. The basic recipe is brilliant as is, which is great because I normally edit recipes to my taste in someway to compensate for a lack of flavour, but not this one. May try green onions next time as someone else suggested though.

Crabmeat Canapes,A party food to be served up on toast points or water crackers…originated in the Bahamas,I’ve made this dip 4 times now for dinner parties. Absolute party pleaser! I’ve even made it without almonds when I didn’t have the time to get some and it’s still great. A couple of times used a flavoured cream cheese (e.g. garlic and herbs). But to be honest it doesn’t need it. The basic recipe is brilliant as is, which is great because I normally edit recipes to my taste in someway to compensate for a lack of flavour, but not this one. May try green onions next time as someone else suggested though.,Very tasty! I made some changes based on ingredients in the pantry. used Penzey’s horshradish (dry seasoning), green onions and omitted the almonds. I assembled the ingredients and spooned it onto pumpernickel party bread. Then baked according to your directions. I thought they were better just out of the oven slightly warm than at room temp. Once they cooled, I didn’t think they looked as appetizing. I will use this recipe again, but make it a dip instead. Thanks for posting!
