Directions
Crock Pot Baked Beans from Scratch,This is my receipe I have used for years. It goes together quickly and is absolutely delicious. It has never failed me and I am always asked for the receipe.,Recipe has some problems. #1 Do not soak overnight IF you do step 2, bring to a boil and then simmer for 2 hours. If you do, it turns to mush like my first batch did. Might as well be refried baked beans. Would be best not to soak. Do the boil and simmer, then transfer to crockpot with 1 cup of the liquid you cooked it in and add other ingredients. You don’t have to put all that unhealthy bacon fat in there either. Two slices is enough. I did add more tomato paste and brown sugar than the recipe called for. Maybe 20 oz of beans is more than 2 cups. I think maybe closer to 3 cups. Flavor was good, ingredients are good, just don’t do both a soak and boil.,The sauce was amazing. I added some smoked turkey leg. However my beans never got soft. I even took them out of the sauce and boiled them for almost three hours. They are still hard. I wasted my money. Oh well, the house smells great!
