Eastern European Kompot(Bulgaria),Macedonia, officially the Republic of Macedonia, is a country located in the central Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. It is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, from which it declared independence in 1991. Many eastern European countries enjoy Kompot all year round. This sweet, cold drink is refreshing on a hot summers day and, in the winter, Bulgarian children enjoy kompot as part of the traditional Christmas celebration. Feel free to use your favorite fruit to make this recipe your own. Mint could even be added for fresh flavor. When serving, be sure to give everyone a few bits of fruit at the bottom of their glass! Bring 10 Cups of Water to a Boil. |

Wash All the Fresh Fruit. |

When the Water Starts to Boil, Carefully Add All the Fruit and Bring Water Back to a Boil. |

Lower Heat to Medium Low and Let the Mixture Simmer For 35-45 Minutes, Uncovered. |

Remove from Heat and Stir in 3/4-1 Cup of Sugar, to Taste. |

Let Kompot Cool Completely, Strain Off the Juice and Refrigerate. Serve Chilled With Ice. |

Make Your Kompot as Light or Strong as You Want, by Adding More Water If You Want It Lighter. Just Be Sure to Add a Few Pieces of Fruit on the Bottom. |
