Filipino Poorman’s Steak (Bistek a La Pobre),This is a variation of a popular Filipino dish called Bistek a la pobre. This is a mainstay in my family’s weekly diner menu back home. The beauty of this recipe is that it is very flexible and you can make it any way you want it. My mom would sometimes make this with finely chopped carrots. I prefer adding chopped spring onions to the stir fried onion rings for garnish. Serve it with steamed rice.,I think there is an error on this web page. When Units: US is selected, the quantity of beef is 1/2 kg. but, with Metric selected, the quantity changes to 1 kg. I believe the US quantity should be 1/2 lb., not 1/2 kg.,I loved how simple this dish is! But it’s packed with so much flavor. I served it with cooked rice and topped it with scallions for color. Adding it to the rotation.
