I'm glad I'm lucky enough to be the first reviewer, as I get to praise this interesting little recipe. I've made this twice now, following the recipe exactly. (I live in the USA, but still followed the metric measurements closely.) Both times, I made it hot, and used only 2 T. of brown sugar (the low end of the range). I thought that the drink was sweet enough, though maybe 3 T. might not be too much if I'd tried it. The ginger flavor was present, but fairly mild (is that the idea?). used the same amount of ginger each time, but the first time I cut it into maybe 5 slices, and the second time 10, the idea being that with more surface area the ginger flavor could come out more. It hardly made a difference to me, I found. Still, this is a nice drink to have on a chilly winter evening, and I look forward to making it again when I have more fresh ginger on hand, and even more so look forward to seeing how this is when served chilled on ice. Lastly, I should mention that I separately ate the strained-out ginger (why waste it?), but it's pretty strong stuff!
