Gloria’s Refried Beans,My friend Gloria is from mexico and makes refried beans just like you get in a good Mexican restaurant. I begged her for the recipe, and I’ll share it with you. Cook time includes 2 hr. soaking time.,I grew up in SoCal. I have had my share of good restaurant refried beans. I have been looking for a recipe that would keep the kids from requesting a night out at the tacqueria…this was it. Thank you so much for sharing. My kids had thirds and this will be on our food rotation. Nothing like a fantastic recipe that is healthy (I render my own lard from grass fed farm), cheap and the kids love.,Very good refried beans! I skipped the bacon fat, since I’m watching my calories, but this was still a great dish. I left the mixture very chunky, as I like to have some whole beans in the mix. I just crushed enough beans to thicken the mix, and got the same taste and texture that I get at my local Mexican place. Next time I’d add some cumin and tabasco if I was serving as a side dish, but as part of a filling for burritos, it was perfect as is. Thanks for posting!
