Go-to Granola Bars,Since so many elementary schools are nut free zones, I like making these for my kids to take as wholesome snacks since taking a store bought granola bar would be considered unsafe for those around them with nut allergies. We all LOVE this recipe! Enjoy!,Very good, close to Nature valley brand.. I quartered the recipe and air-fried a medium diced apple for 12 minutes in the air fryer at 180 C’ turning them half way through and added it to the mixture along with 1 tsp cinnamon and used chopped walnuts in place of coconut and brown sugar instead of white.. I think i will halve the baking soda next time (left an after taste in the mouth) and replace 1/4 of the oil with honey as i thought it needed to be a little bit sweeter (and to try to reduce the calories).. I baked it for 25 minutes at 180 C’ regular oven, took it out and left it to cool for 5 minutes then flipped it on a cutting borad and cut it with a pizza cutter and left it to cool completely Update: I tried to replace 1/4 of the oil with honey but its texture wasn’t right when it was baked,I took lots of liberties with the recipe & they were still delicious! I only had 3 cups rolled oats so I supplemented with maple flavored instant packets. Those already have sweetener so I reduced sugar. I reduced oil to 1/4 cup, added Greek yogurt and leftover red pepper hummus (yeah, I know…kinda weird, but I figured it was kind of like peanut butter). Add ins were chopped pecans, trail mix remnants and a handful of chopped craisins, It was very crumbly in the bowl so I added some apple juice until it was slightly squishy. Baked at 325 for 20 minutes and the edges were just barely brown. Cut into bars…delicious & I got to use up some leftovers. I will now refer to these as my frugal breakfast bars!
