Ground Beef and Potatoes (Oh so Simple!),This dish is almost too simple, but my husband loves it. I can make it any night and he’s happy. I have tried to dress it up before and he politely has told me that he likes it plain and simple. This is nothing to write home about, but it seems to work in my household. It’s fast, inexpensive, easy to make and doesn’t require a lot of ingredients. I serve it with plenty of salted white rice and veggies.,This is absolutely positively tasteless, no flavor whatsoever! A recipe should have some redeeming qualities…but this one has zero! It really is a shame that of all the people that reviewed this…99% of them had completely changed the original recipe…so giving it 5 stars after adding many additional ingredients is not a fair review of a recipe… Not worth wasting good potatoes and ground beef on…sorry!,I’ve made this for many years, since I first started cooking and thought I had invented a fantastic new recipe! If you like ground beef (with salt and pepper to season it), and potatoes (again, with salt and pepper to season), you’ll enjoy this meal. It isn’t bland with the correct amounts of salt and pepper. That said, used to always change it up, as most reviewers have said. One time I’ll add Italian Seasoning, another time oregano and either a can of tomato sauce or a can of diced tomatoes, sometimes cheese, sometimes I toss some frozen peas in (tried green beans, but thought they overpowered the taste too much), or frozen corn, chopped green or red pepper… and each deviation from the original recipe gives a new taste to the meal, like a new recipe. BUT… my favorite is still the plain, simple, basic recipe with a nice veggies on the side (usually green… broccoli, peas, green beans, just because I like the color contrast). Thanks for reminding me of this meal, it’s now on the calendar for Saturday night dinner!
