    Dissolve Soda in Milk. Sift Flour and Sugar. Add Milk Mixture, Eggs, Jam and Butter and Mix All Ingredients Until Blended. Put Into an Oval Pan and Bake 35 Minutes at 350 Degrees. Remove from Oven and Prick With a Toothpick So Cake Can Absorb Topping, Which Should Be Put on While Cake Is Still Hot.

    While Cake Is Baking, Boil Together Topping Ingredients. Stir Constantly and Be Careful not to Scorch. Use a Spoon to Flow It All Over the Cake.
