Hopple Popple German Breakfast Casserole, Eye opening breakfast casserole from an old German favorite Add a slice of toast and a fruit salad for a hearty start to a busy Saturday! Or how about brunch?, Yes, I also have a hard time believing this to be German The changes (in my opinion) would be to: #1 change the hash browns to cooked, diced, and pan-fried yellow potatoes until golden or browned; #2 change the pepperoni to Westphalian (or other suitable) smoked & cured ham, or suitable mild breakfast sausage; #3 to change all of the recommendations of herbs & spices to a 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg plus 1/2 tsp anise seeds, and a pinch of caraway seeds Fresh chives would be welcome depending on if they are in season or not; #4 NO PROCESSED CHEESE!!! , I have to agree wholeheartedly with Joyfull40 It is a huge stretch to call this German with the Italian seasonings, pepperoni and processed cheeses
