Tangy Applesauce Cake,quick, easy snack cake, and no messy bowls to clean up. this mixes right in the pan,Made as written (except I tossed in a handful of raisins — they were great in it). Was happy with how easy it was to put together, no bowl to wash! But I was not happy with the amount of allspice. I’d never in over 50 years of cooking seen a recipe call for so much allspice and I almost didn’t put it all in but thought it fair to first do as the recipe said. Sorry, I didn’t like all that much allspice in the cake. It seemed bitter to me. Yes, the ice cream did help to smooth it out but I won’t be making this again.,I followed the recipe & used the Allspice. Added dried cranberries. It was not my favorite but the vanilla ice cream made it OK. My husband called it “interesting” but not a fan. I won’t make it again…too many other great desserts await to waste calories on a mediocre cake.
