Thanks for the recipe. I think the people who use butter in lieu of oil have lost their minds. Also apple sauce instead of oil makes no sense and would destroy this recipe. I have baked these exactly as the recipe states and they are great. Since I try to be healthy, and avoid soy (and would never talk about how great Duncan Hines soy based mixes are) in my recent batch I substituted hemp protein powder for some of the flour, used hemp oil and would never sub butter for oil; I also added a half cup hemp seeds as well. I cut down the sugar to one third cup and added some pure maple syrup for the sugar. They turned out perfect and are the worlds healthiest brownies. I also used pure cocoa powder of course. Too many of you are scared of oil which makes no sense. The problem in America is too much sugar. Italians live to be 120 and live on oil. God bless you all.

Mom’s Cocoa Powder Brownies, Oooey, Gooey, Rich and Chewy If you are a fan of cake-like brownies, these are NOT for you This makes a small pan of brownies that are moist and dense and need no icing They form a crust that cracks and is a wonderful contrast to the fudgy texture of the brownie Like all other basic brownie recipes, these are a great base for adding in chunks of chocolate, nuts, or whatever As an adult, I like them with a 1/2 tsp of espresso powder added For the brownie purist, the nuts are strictly optional When I’m having one of those must have chocolate days, these are the perfect fix After 1 brownie, I’m cured , Thanks for the recipe I think the people who use butter in lieu of oil have lost their minds Also apple sauce instead of oil makes no sense and would destroy this recipe I have baked these exactly as the recipe states and they are great Since I try to be healthy, and avoid soy (and would never talk about how great Duncan Hines soy based mixes are) in my recent batch I substituted hemp protein powder for some of the flour, used hemp oil and would never sub butter for oil; I also added a half cup hemp seeds as well I cut down the sugar to one third cup and added some pure maple syrup for the sugar They turned out perfect and are the worlds healthiest brownies I also used pure cocoa powder of course Too many of you are scared of oil which makes no sense The problem in America is too much sugar Italians live to be 120 and live on oil God bless you all , This is my favourite Brownie recipe! use apple sauce instead of oil and add about 1/4 of semi-sweet chocolate chips – turns out great every time
