Silky Vanilla Butter Frosting,This is not your usual butter-cream made with powdered sugar. Butter is beaten into a flour-thickened base to make an exquisitely light and creamy frosting. Not overly sweet like those made with powdered sugar, but sweet enough to be the perfect compliment for a cake. Make sure the base is completely cooled before beating in the butter. I added in 15 minutes cooling time, but it will vary depending on conditions.,This is what I call a good frosting, made correctly it is smooth silky and not too sweet like the butter – icing sugar mixtures which I never use.,I cooked the flour/sugar/milk mixture thoroughly but still detected a floury taste. Added an additional 1/3 cup of powdered sugar after tasting the final product. I guess we like it a little sweeter but I also don’t care for the “hurt your teeth” gritty sweet versions. I’ll keep looking for a vanilla frosting that will be my standard.
