Slow Cooked Shredded Beef Tacos

After reading many of the reviews, I was really hoping for something out of this world. Alas, it was just average and a lot more effort than ground beef. I think a part of the problem is that the recipe calls for jars of taco sauce and packages of taco seasoning mix which, in my case, meant that it just ended up tasting like the Old El Paso taco kits that I usually buy anyway. If I were to make it again, I think I'd look for recipes for homemade taco sauce and homemade taco seasoning... maybe even fresh green chilies. After all, if you're going to spend 6-8 hours slow cooking the beef, there's lots of time to make the freshest ingredients possible.

Slow Cooked Shredded Beef Tacos,,After reading many of the reviews, I was really hoping for something out of this world. Alas, it was just average and a lot more effort than ground beef. I think a part of the problem is that the recipe calls for jars of taco sauce and packages of taco seasoning mix which, in my case, meant that it just ended up tasting like the Old El Paso taco kits that I usually buy anyway. If I were to make it again, I think I’d look for recipes for homemade taco sauce and homemade taco seasoning… maybe even fresh green chilies. After all, if you’re going to spend 6-8 hours slow cooking the beef, there’s lots of time to make the freshest ingredients possible.,I really wanted to like this recipe… it was so simple… I just didn’t enjoy the flavor. I made the meat as instructed but when it came time to add the taco sauce I only put in HALF the recommended amount and it was already swimming in the sauce. Maybe the one I bought just wasn’t that great (Ortega advertised as the Nation’s #1 taco sauce)… but all I could taste was taco sauce… It was still edible but I won’t make it again.
