Steel Cut Oatmeal for the Crock Pot,I love the texture of steel cut oats. You can make this the night before and breakfast is ready in the morning. I like fruit additions, but my kids do not, so I’ve listed them as optional. Also, it may sound like a lot of water, but trust me, I’ve experimented..,How long should you cook it if you halve it and make it in a smaller (1.5 qt) crockpot?,I’ve made this twice in the past few days. I doubled it- so 2C of steel cut oats, 9C of water, 1 tsp salt, 6Tbsp butter. I sprayed the crock pot heavily and cooked on low for 6 hours stirring every hour after the first 3 had passed. When I am cooling it I added 5 1/3 Tbsp of brown sugar which works out to just 2 tsp per cup and really adds just the right amount of sweetness. Amazing recipe!
