Directions
Smoked Gouda Cheese Grits,Delicious side dish for breakfast or dinner. The Gouda gives a taste unlike other cheese grits I have had. Of course, cheddar or other cheese can be substituted. I got this from a lady in Louisiana.,Great recipe. I made this twice. The second time was the pic. Made the following alterations: used regular (not 5 min grits), first time used five minute and they were lumpy and too gritty, add more liquid – grits call for 4:1 ration of liquid to grits, used 5:1 and they came out creamy and soft. Add the grits slowly with a whisk and then whisk for a minute or so and every so often afterward. These cooked in 15 minutes and we’re thick and creamy. I topped it with a spicy shrimp in garlic butter. My mother-in-law doesn’t like grits but loved these.
