Ultimate Plant-Based Lentil Patties: A Vegan Delight

Features:
    Cuisine:

This lentil veggie burger is so yumy, tasty, delicious and hearty - even just eating it by itself! It's a new staple on my weekly menu at home. You must try this recipe!... I made a few tweaks for extra flavor: 1) You don't need to saute the carrot and onions before adding it in. I put them in the food processor together until they are super finely shredded. They cook up in it just fine this way and made it really flavorful. 2) I add 4 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce instead of just one. This gives a great umami flavor to it. 3) I add salt, onion powder, more garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and sometimes chipotle powder too. It's a very versatile and forgiving recipe, so just try it as you go and season to taste. 4) I also add fresh herbs: cilantro, green onion, or parsely, or anything you love. **5) If they ever come out too wet to hold together, I just add another 1/8 to 1/4 cup of Oat Flour and it works perfectly... If I'm making them for burgers, I usually make really large patties to fit the Orrowheat buns I get. I get 5 large patties this way. If I'm making them smaller, I can get 8-12 patties... My husband who is an avid meat eater loves these burgers. They are really hearty and filling. We love it with melted American Cheese on top... I also make these each week just to have some whole-food veggie protein on hand to add to Buddha bowls, salads, throw in a wrap, or just eat plain on the go. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Vegan Lentil Burgers,Got the recipe from theveggietable.com and wanted to post so I had it to hand and for others to share.,This lentil veggie burger is so yumy, tasty, delicious and hearty – even just eating it by itself! It looks like a lot, but the basic proportions were the same. Came out great. Used red lentils so only had to cook 20 minutes. Used an entire onion. Replaced carrot with 4 oz chopped mushrooms. Added 1 Tbsp chopped garlic and increased soy sauce to 2 Tbsp. Didn’t bother grinding the oats-used quick cooking, don’t know if that matters. Added 1 egg and they held together with no problem.
