Crock Pot Hungarian Goulash,This is absolutely delicious and a real favorite in our house.,I first found this recipe back in the 70’s in a cookbook called Crockery Cookery. I love this recipe. used to make it all the time when my son was growing up. Very happy to find it again, it’s in my crock pot right now for tonight’s dinner. I make it exactly as written. Is it “authentic”, who cares…it’s good and that’s all that matters to me.,Having lived in Hungary, I know that “goulash” (gulyas) is actually a soup, and not a meat-and-noodle dish, but despite the misnaming of the dish, this beef concoction can actually be a tasty dinner. I followed the directions, only substituting hot Hungarian paprika for the bland, tasteless red powder that adorns many supermarket shelves, and that made all the difference! The combination of the hot paprika, sweet brown sugar and tangy dry mustard resulted in a wonderful taste sensation. used Farfalle noodles rather than the traditional egg noodles when I served it, as the Farfalle is shaped to better hold the sauce. Yum! Will make again!
