Mrs. Haydens Coffee Cake

Features:
    Cuisine:

This was yummy! The only thing I did different was to add frozen raspberries to half , I figured then I could tell which I liked best. Both sides were good, but I think I liked it with the raspberries best. Also I only used about a 1/2 lb of confectioners' sugar because that is all I had on hand and it was the perfect sweetness, So thats all I will use next time I make it. Thanks for sharing!

Mrs Hayden’s Coffee Cake, Mrs Hayden was a patient of mine when I was fresh out of college and in my first job As a widow, she was lonely so I visted her often She always baked something when she knew I was going to drop by My daughter Shanna started cooking when she was 12 and this was her favorite foolproof sweet It brings back many sweet memories , This was yummy! The only thing I did different was to add frozen raspberries to half , I figured then I could tell which I liked best Both sides were good, but I think I liked it with the raspberries best Also I only used about a 1/2 lb of confectioners’ sugar because that is all I had on hand and it was the perfect sweetness, So thats all I will use next time I make it Thanks for sharing!, I loved that this was a cake mix recipe, and that it was so simple to make I didn’t have a white cake mix, so used golden butter yellow I added some frozen blueberries, which I think was a good idea because it cut the sweetness of the filling a little bit (very sweet and gooey) I found it amusing that everyone who ate it kept saying, omigod, this is sweet! , but most of them had more than one serving lol! The two people who didn’t care for it didn’t like it only because it was too sweet for them (the people who really liked it WAY outnumbered the ones who couldn’t handle the sweetness, hence the five stars) I think next time I might try this with a more tart type of berry (maybe raspberries or cranberries), because I think it would be a nice contrast to the sweetness of the filling Thanks for posting!
